Tell us about yourself, hobbies, interests, family, job, etc.

I am Danny G. and I have been at Light the Fire CrossFit for 10 months now. In my free time you can catch me lounging with my girlfriend Reghan, running, riding bikes at the skate park, with my close friends, attending concerts, fishing, quarry swimming, and playing pool.

What do you remember about your first CrossFit experience?

What I remember about my first CrossFit experience is knowing I wasn’t experienced in lifting or knew how to properly lift. After my first session I was confident that this is the place that would help me grow in fitness.

What do you most enjoy about CrossFit?

What I like about CrossFit is that it is never the same workout and always challenging. Suffering together as a unit makes me feel like I help contribute to the people around me.

What motivates you to come to the box?

What motivates me to come to the box is being part of something bigger than myself. I don’t feel myself if I take too much time off.

What is you most recent PR/biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment recently was a 65 lb PR on my deadlift from 235 to 300 lbs. I remember when 235 lbs felt so difficult.

What is your favorite wod, lift, movement, or skill?

My favorite Wods are barbell movements mixed with burpees and pullups because I feel accomplished after. My favorite lifts are deadlifts and squats.

What is your current CrossFit goal?

My current CrossFit goals are are continuing to increase weight on my deadlifts and squats and one day getting a Muscle Up.

What would you tell a newbie or someone that has never done CrossFit?

I would tell a newbie at CrossFit if you’re always looking for a challenge that will defeat you to growth, this is the place to be!

Have you had a life changing experience since starting CrossFit?

Since being at CrossFit, I have taken a leadership position at work that I didn’t know if I was ready for. CrossFit has made me mentally strong to handle pressure better.

How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the box?

I feel like CrossFit has made me better for all the people around me. I always get told that I am more confident and motivating. My consistency has sparked others around me to et back in the gym or running.
