Tell us about yourself, hobbies, interests, family, job, etc.
Sherry and I have been married for 29 years and we have two adult kids. I work for Ford Motor Company as a Master Instrumentation Technologist in Product Development. I’ve always been into fitness so when Sherry asked me to join CrossFit with her, I instantly said yes. I enjoy camping, golfing, running and spending time with friends and family.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
2 years and 2 months.
What do you remember about your first CrossFit experience?
I remember showing up for our first foundations class after a Northside burger and a couple of beers. (It was my birthday!) I was thinking “oh no, we have to do a workout?”
What do you most enjoy about CrossFit?
The people and comradery. You know the old saying “misery loves company.”
What do you most enjoy about being part of Light the Fire CrossFit family?
Everybody is so positive and encouraging, it’s a nice break from reality lately.
What motivates you to come to the box?
The community makes it fun to show up and do the work. I wouldn’t be motivated to do CrossFit by myself.
What is you most recent PR/biggest accomplishment?
Finally doing a couple double unders. I’m not very coordinated so it’s been a love/hate relationship.
What is your favorite wod, lift, movement, or skill?
Anything using weights. I like the variety of CrossFit and finding new ways to torture myself.
What is your least favorite wod, lift, movement, or skill?
What is your current CrossFit goal?
To keep pushing myself to get better.
What would you tell a newbie or someone that has never done CrossFit?
It’s a great way to get in shape and keep yourself accountable. The best part about CrossFit is anybody can do it and every movement is scalable.
Have you had a life changing experience since starting CrossFit?
I can definitely say by doing CrossFit the last two years I’m in the best shape of my life.
How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the box?
I’m more confident when running marathons and patriating in Spartan races. I think CrossFit will help me stay fit well into old age, whatever that is…
